Condition: Vintage, Good w/ minor to some signs of age and imperfections  (minor wrinkling, minor toning, water stains) on one side in the upper border (this does not affect the image) and on the right side of the verso (photo #9). The print is protected in a clear archival sleeve.

Print by Margaret Taylor Burroughs. The title of the piece “Birthday Party” “To Harold and Laura Ware” and the artist’s signature M Burroughs 1995” is written in the border, as well as printed within the print in the lower right corner of the recto along with "Margaret T.G Burroughs -1957 DEC (the date the original was created).

About The Artist: Margaret Taylor Burroughs (American; 1915 – 2010) was an African-American artist, writer, educator and a co-founder of the DuSable Museum in Chicago. The DuSable is the nation’s oldest independent African American Museum. Burroughs was also instrumental in establishing the South Side Community Arts Center (Chicago). She earned both her BA and MA at the Art Institute of Chicago in the 1940’s. Burroughs traveled to Mexico City in the 1950’s and spent time as a guest artist at the Esmeralda School of Art and “TGP” (Printmaker’s Collective). She is the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate Degree as well as the President’s Humanitarian Award (1975). Burroughs received many accolades for her work in the art community and her artwork can be found in numerous museum collections.
