Born in San Sebastián (Guipúzcoa, Spain), Jordá conducted the San Francisco Symphony from 1954-1963 (after conducting in Madrid, Cape Town and Antwerp). (Guest Artist) Alexander Brailowsky (1896 –1976) was a Russian-born French pianist who specialized in the works of Chopin.
Program Two Dates: May 7-9, 1958; Enrique Jordá (Conductor); Bruno Walter (Guest Conductor); War Memorial Opera House. Bruno Walter (1876 – 1962) was a German-born conductor, pianist and composer. Born in Berlin, he left Germany in the early 1930’s, became a French citizen in the late 1930’s, and settled in the United States in 1939.
