Condition: Overall good condition with imperfections, signs consistent with age. Normal signs of toning and foxing on the Recto and Verso. Paper mounting tape in upper corners of etching. There is a small tear (approximately 1 inch) in the lower left corner of etching. Etched on paper with deckeled edges with the hallmark "FRANCE" on the Verso. Signed "M. Ryerson" in pencil in the lower right of recto. Text in the lower margin of recto reads "8 3/8 + 10 5/8 - 16 & 20 Folder B. B. " Protected in Clear Archival Sleeve w/ Backer.

About the Artist: Margery Austen Ryerson (1886-1989) was born in Morristown, New Jersey. After graduating from Vassar College, she studied with Robert Henri at the Art Students League in New York, and with Charles Webster Hawthorne at the Cape Cod School of Art in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Ryerson's work is held in the permanent collections of several institutions including the Smithsonian, Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
